Paniolo Memorial Ride

PANIOLO MEMORIAL BANNERS:
Banners will be 18” wide by 24” high (18” x 24”)
​
AFIOH will provide you with PVC (light) plastic pole 8–feet high for your banner to be lashed/zip tied on. Poles must be returned after the parade.

Paniolo Memorial Ride
This ride was created to honor our ranching paniolo from our community who passed away. As a means to honor the memory of a loved one and bring together our paniolo community, this ride serves as a tribute to remember family members, genealogy, lineage, history, legacy, and ohana practice.
Eligibility:

Honorees can be any paniolo – cowboy, rancher, families that have or live the ranching lifestyle.

Honoree can be male or female, grandpa and grandma

Honoree must be decease

Honoree must be from or have ranched in Waimea, Hamakua, Kohala, North Kona regions.
Representatives:

Representatives must be a lineal descendant of the honoree or riding for an uncle or aunt due to them not having descendants.

Representatives can ride on an automobile, golf cart, UTV, ATV, horse or on foot.

This is a one (1) or two (2) person ride. 1 person if on horseback, must ride with banner, page style. 2 person if operating a mobile vehicle, 1 person driving, 1 passenger holding the banner.

This is not a whole family affair, but if you want to, you are welcome to enter a float, equestrian, or walking unit to enter the whole family.

Banners:

Banners must be made 18x24in (recommended they be vinyl or outdoor canvas). Banners must have holes (grommets preferably) as they will be attached to a PVC pipe pole.

AFIOH will supply the 8ft PVC pipe holder for you to zip tie your banner to.

All 8ft PVC pipe holders must be returned to AFIOH after the parade to be used for next year’s ride.

Decorations are allowed but keep in mind that this is about the honoree. Simple is best, so that people are looking at the honoree’s picture.
